Based on Chapter 6 of the official UAE Electronic Invoicing Guidelines. Your answers are added to your booking, so we start where you are.
In short: invoices between businesses, and between businesses and government, are covered. Sales to the public are not.

Any company doing business in the UAE is covered, based here or abroad.
The same ASP sends your sales invoices and receives your supplier invoices.
Article 65(5), UAE VAT law. A customer not yet on e-invoicing may still ask for a normal invoice too.
Sales to the public are out, even through a billing agent. Government tenders are in. Some transactions are excluded (Chapter 7 of the Guidelines); we check these for you.

Common questions
Still unsure? Message us on WhatsApp and a tax agent will answer.
Ask on WhatsAppDoes e-invoicing apply to my business?
Yes, if you do business in the UAE and sell to other businesses or to government, unless a specific exclusion applies. It doesn't matter where your company is based.
We're not VAT-registered. Does it apply to us?
Yes. E-invoicing applies to every business buying or selling in the UAE, whether or not it is registered for VAT.
Are free zone companies included?
Yes. What matters is doing business in the UAE, not free zone status or VAT registration. We check any exclusions for each of your companies in the Health Check.
Do sales to the public need e-invoices?
No. Sales to (or purchases from) individuals who are not businesses are out, even if a billing agent invoices or collects for you.
Can we use one ASP for sales and another for purchases?
No. You choose one ASP for both your sales invoices and your supplier invoices.
Our customer isn't on e-invoicing yet. Do we still issue e-invoices?
Yes. Whether your customer has joined e-invoicing or is VAT-registered doesn't change your obligation. Because an e-invoice is a digital file, that customer may also ask for a normal invoice to claim back VAT or for corporate tax.
Does an e-invoice replace our tax invoice?
If you're VAT-registered, your tax invoices and credit notes are issued as e-invoices and e-credit notes (Article 65(5), UAE VAT law). The normal VAT invoice rules still apply.
Is the AED 50M threshold for my group or each company?
Each company separately, not your whole group. Companies in the same group can have different deadlines.
Do I need new accounting software?
Usually not. Zoho Books, Xero and QuickBooks users typically need clean customer data, the right setup and a connection to their ASP.
Which ASPs are approved?
Only ASPs accredited by the Ministry of Finance under Ministerial Decision No. 64 of 2025. The Ministry keeps the official, regularly updated list: view the official ASP list ↗. We shortlist three that fit your system and budget.
Is FrankDigit an e-invoicing provider (ASP)?
No. We are an FTA-Approved Tax Agent. We help you choose, sign up with and set up an approved ASP, and check your VAT treatment.
What if we miss the deadline?
Choosing an ASP late costs AED 5,000 per month or part month. Late e-invoices are AED 100 each, capped at AED 5,000 per month. Contact us straight away and we will prioritise your case.
